The basics

Influencer and creator marketing, explained

What is a creator marketing platform?

A creator marketing platform is software that helps brands plan, launch, run and report influencer and creator campaigns from one place. CrowdSwell is a creator marketing platform powered by The Looksee Group: creators are selected on data, work runs on automation, and results are tied back to sales rather than reach.

What is influencer marketing?

Influencer marketing is when a brand partners with vetted creators to make content their audience trusts, then puts commercial weight behind it. Done well, that content outperforms studio ads and drives real, trackable sales. Learn more on our influencer marketing page.

What is the difference between an influencer marketing platform and an agency?

Most influencer marketing agencies run programs on spreadsheets, inboxes and gut feel. A platform scores every creator before they are booked, tracks the whole campaign on shared workflow, and reports live instead of weeks later. CrowdSwell gives you both: the platform, plus the option to have Looksee run it for you. While other agencies use spreadsheets, we built CrowdSwell.

Is CrowdSwell an Australian influencer marketing agency?

We were born and grew from the Australian market, but we run creator campaigns all over the world, made possible by our access to 380 million creator records. CrowdSwell is the platform, and Looksee is the full-service agency that runs on it, including real superannuation rails for local creators.

For brands

Running an influencer campaign

How much does influencer marketing cost in Australia?

There is no fixed sticker, because scope drives cost. A two-creator product seeding burst and an always-on acquisition engine are very different jobs. We scope your program, then give you a fixed number up front. See the pricing page for the levers that shape a quote.

Is influencer marketing worth it, and what ROI can I expect?

When it is run like a performance channel, yes. Across our programs we have delivered up to 8x return on ad spend (ROAS), including a consistent 4.8x ROAS over four years for Marley Spoon. We report on sales, not vanity reach, so you can see the return. Browse the case studies for the numbers.

What types of influencer marketing campaigns are there?
How do brands find the right influencers?

On CrowdSwell, every creator is scored on audience fit, engagement quality, content fit and brand safety across a database of more than 380 million records, with a projected return before a dollar is committed. You approve the roster before anything is booked, so finding influencers becomes a data decision, not a guess.

Can I start with a small pilot before committing?

Yes. Most brands begin with a low-commitment Test Drive: a scoped mini-program that proves the model on your own products before you scale. You see the platform, the creators and the numbers first.

How long does it take to launch an influencer campaign?

It depends on scope, but because casting, briefs, contracts and approvals all run on the platform rather than over email, programs launch faster than a manual process. We give you a clear timeline when we scope the work.

For creators

For influencers and content creators

How do I become an influencer or content creator?

Start by creating a free profile and media kit on CrowdSwell, then discover and apply to brand campaigns that fit your niche and audience. You set your rate, track your work, and get paid properly. Join as a creator here.

What is an influencer media kit and how do I make one?

A media kit is a shareable profile that brings your live social stats, audience insights, portfolio and rates into one link that brands can view. On CrowdSwell it builds itself from your connected accounts. See an example media kit to get the idea.

How do influencers and content creators get paid?

Payments run on real rails inside the platform, scoped to each placement, so you are paid properly and on time rather than chasing invoices over email.

Do influencers and content creators get superannuation?

On CrowdSwell, yes. We built genuine superannuation rails for Australian creators, which the industry has largely ignored. More than half of creators earn under $10,000 a year, and paying super is part of building a fairer deal for them.

Is it free to join CrowdSwell as a creator?

Yes. Creating your profile and media kit and applying to campaigns is free. Talk to us if you want more detail on how it works for you.

Platform and reporting

Measuring and reporting results

How do you measure influencer marketing ROI?

Live dashboards run through the campaign, not a slide deck after it. We track return on ad spend (ROAS), engagement and conversions, and tie each post to a placement and back to revenue, so you can optimise while the program is still live.

Can you track actual sales from influencer marketing?

Yes. Using unique links, promo codes and paid-media data, we attribute creator content to real commercial outcomes rather than reporting reach for its own sake. Creator marketing that drives real sales.

What is eCPV (effective cost per view)?

eCPV is effective cost per view: the cost of a creator divided by their forecasted views. It sits in the media plan next to match scores so you can compare creators on value, not just price, before you commit.

What is the difference between influencer marketing and UGC?

Influencer marketing uses a creator's own audience to spread content. UGC (user-generated content) is creator-made content a brand licenses to run as its own paid ads, where the creator's follower count matters less than the content quality. Most brands use both. See UGC ad production.

Connecting your accounts

Connecting a social account

Why do you need me to connect at least one social account?

So we can verify your audience stats for more effective planning and buying, track how your content performs without asking you for screengrabs, and build your free media kit for you. A verified connection is what makes accurate planning and honest reporting possible. There is more detail in our Trust Centre.

What exactly can CrowdSwell access on my account?

The connection is purely analytical. We can only pull page data, content performance and audience insights. We cannot post, comment or go live as you, we cannot read or send your messages, and we cannot change your settings or password. Nothing beyond the analytics is ever accessible to us, and you can disconnect at any time.

What do I need to connect an Instagram account?

Instagram only shares analytics for professional accounts, so to connect Instagram to CrowdSwell your account must be set to Creator or Business (both free to switch to in your Instagram settings), and it must be linked to a Facebook page. These are Instagram's own requirements for sharing insights, not ours. See the Trust Centre for the full walkthrough.

Is my account and data secure, and can I disconnect later?

Yes. We authenticate through the platforms' own official login and never see or store your password, we use your data only to plan and report on your campaigns, and we never sell it. You can disconnect from within CrowdSwell or from the social platform's connected-apps settings at any time, and our access ends immediately.
